First off id like to thank to those who gave me useful feedback from the clay renders a month ago. It really lifts my motivation for modelling and gets things done faster when people show an interest...
The above render is a test render. That is it is still a work in progress. Im very much aware of what could be improved.
Story
The Aim was to make something original and interesting involving interest of metroid whilst improving rhino skills.its not much fun making something thats already been done.
only references used were the instruction manual box and official artwork from the time of release. These can be found at the metroid database website or buy a copy of metroid 2 with the manual.
There was no inspiration used from the other games including super metroid and the prime series. Relations are coincidental.
There is a huge amount of problem solving work involved. Most notable 2d to 3d translation/s include the floating of the helmet, opening of the back of calves area upper chest area blends to back .and having the upper leg able to recess into the back of the calves adding much better aesthetic and function.
The proportions are very different to human proportions most notably the widening of the shoulders and spacing of the legs. However it is assumed it is much more humanlike than the prime series armour. Im sure the armour would not fit if scaled to average human size
it is also noted that this version of samus the armour appears less bloated than the super metroid and zero mission suits. The armour is much more sleek looking in areas. Those games apear most simular to me.
The orange parts of armour appear to reinforce the suit perhaps this is why it's called the barrier suit in the manual.but some areas it appears that the original parts were taken away so these pieces would fit. most noticable in the upper arm.
The armour appears very rigid and impractical but it appears to be designed to flex particularly in the areas of the chest and back areas. It almost looks like there is weight on these pieces already causing them to flex/bulge.
