Helicopter Concept
Painter, Photoshop, Rhino, VRay
July 2006

A helicopter for inner city firefighting.
It's been used a lot so glass Is broken, panels are damaged from the rough construction, duct tape has been used .
Experimental, vigilante and very dangerous .
The rear rotor(s) are hubless and run similar to a steel roller coaster rail.

I started the first of 4 weeks on it, sketching concepts during spare time on an a5 sketchbook with 2b pencil. Then, as I started modeling a week later, went to 0.5 mechanical pencil with blue and red pencils to help visualize some parts. I couldn't be near the computer or laptop all the time and it helped fill otherwise wasted time in certain situations.

Originally I wanted to make a VTOL but It developed into a helicopter.
I'm relearning the drawing skills for the concepts at the same time so I think some look inconsistent as a result. I still think I need to improve.

It was also a first for me to try texture painting and learn more on displacement maps.I think it was also useful to set a deadline of 3 weeks to stop the project dragging on too much and to help me be more efficient. But it went for 4 weeks for some reason.

Thanks for looking.
